This is the last article in my 3 part series of ‘Getting Unstuck’.  This step is all about putting the previous steps into action.

In parts 1 and 2, we looked at ways of identifying what changes you want to achieve and how to focus on them effectively.

My last tip is the most simple of the three, but it is the one that we ignore for the longest.

That is to TAKE ACTION.

Taking action is something that we have to do, if we ever want to make positive life changes or achieve our goals. It is the one thing that cannot be avoided. We know this, but we still procrastinate!

There are many reasons why we don’t take action, but fear of failure is one of the main reasons for this type of procrastination.

We may keep researching and try to gather more and more evidence to help our plans, but the longer we are in research mode – the longer we are not taking action. So we do not achieve anything.

The way to ensure that having to take action doesn’t cause overwhelm, is to break down all of the things that you need to do into small steps.

Don’t try to do everything this week!

Be realistic about the time frame as some of your goals may take months or even years to achieve. But if you are methodical about this step, you will actually achieve your goals much quicker.

If you have a huge list of things that you need to do to achieve the change that you desire or to achieve your goal, prioritise the list and start at the top of the list. Commit to doing the first priority item on the list this week.

Also, make a point to do at least one thing on your list each day. If you don’t have a lot of time to concentrate on this, make sure your ‘To Do’ list is in small enough (manageable) chunks. This will be individual to you, depending on your other commitments such as childcare, work etc.

For example, if something is going to take you 3 hours and you do not have 3 hours at any point during this week to work on your goals, the item will get put off until next week, and then the next week – so you will not be able to take the next steps towards your goals.

But if you break it down into smaller chunks and commit to doing a third of it this week and then another third next week etc. It may seem like it will take you longer to do it, BUT it will actually get done within the next three weeks.

* * Before long, you will have completed many of the steps on your list, and that is the only way that we can effectively achieve our goals. * *

This is also the reason why so many people NEVER achieve their goals, because they do not break the big goal down into smaller, manageable chunks to help them move closer to their goal step by step.

I hope that you have enjoyed this 3 part series of articles and if you have already taken action and done the steps in each article, you should now be well on your way to getting unstuck and on the path to achieving your goals.

Go for it!
